Objectives and Focus
In many parts of the world there is a lack of sustainable access to high-quality drinking water and adequate sanitation services. In many European countries, a high supply standard has been achieved. However, particularly in some Southern and Eastern European countries, prevailing conditions are making it difficult to improve water and sanitation services.
This is, where the Muelheim Water Award focuses on. It prizes oustanding projects in applied research and/or the implementation of innovative concepts that contribute to an improvement of water management in Europe. This also includes engineering, planning and consulting services.
